For the second day of our luxury trips to Peru, we’ll catch a morning flight to Cusco. This is where everything starts.
Post-landing, we’ll embark on a tour of the Sacred Valley. Chinchero is our first destination. We’ll witness the beautiful integrations of colonial architecture with Inca structures.
Next, we’ll explore the impressive Maras Salt Mines. Near there we’ll enjoy a delectable lunch. Finally, we’ll explore the Moray Inca site. Our last mission of the day will be take you to your hotel in the Sacred Valley.
For the second day of our Sacred Valley exploration, we’ll visit Ollantaytambo. The town is a living Inca city with a lot of its original structure still intact. We’ll, of course, visit the Inca ruins in town as well.
Continuing we’ll go to Pisac village. We’ll explore this picturesque town and its famous market. Finally we’ll ascend to see the Pisac Inca site in all its glory.
By the end of the day we’ll leave you in your hotel in Cusco. There you’ll have a briefing about the upcoming Salkantay Trek.
A Cusco exploration is mandatory for every Luxury Peru Vacations. This city tour includes the Saqsayhuaman Inca site, San Blas neighborhood, Coricancha temple and the San Pedro market.
You will be able to explore some of the most culturally relevant places. You’ll have this lunch to explore the Cusco offerings and a free evening. But rest well, the next day we’ll begin the big adventures of this Peru travel.
Our trek begins early after an early breakfast. We’ll travel to the trailhead at Marcoccasa. With a small stop to visit the Tarawasi Inca site. We’ll have some hours of hiking before arriving at our lodge in Soraypampa.
This day all meals are included, and it will be the same while in the Salkantay Trek.
This will be the most relaxing day of your Luxury Peru Vacations. Enjoy a short walk to Humantay Lake to have the magnificent viewing experience.
You’ll spend the rest of the day resting at the lodge. Enjoy the amenities like jacuzzi and more. Get used to the altitude before the most demanding part of the Salkantay Trek.
We’ll begin the hike even before the sunrise. We’ll reach the heist point of the trek, the Salkantay Pass (higher than 12,200 feet/ 4,000 m). During the hike we’ll have views from the Vilcabamba mountain range.
For lunch we’ll have a picnic with a hot meal en route. We’ll hike until we reach our lodge in Wayracmachay.
We’ll trek early, after breakfast. We’ll start the descent to the cloud forest. Similar to the Amazon rainforest it is a humid jungle environment.
We’ll pass the Salkantay river to arrive at our lodge of the day. For our lunch we’ll have Pachamanca with a demonstration of the preparation process. You’ll have a free afternoon to enjoy the amenities of the lodge or go on a walk nearby.
This day in our Luxury Peru Vacations, we’ll get to walk a part of the Inca trail. We’ll hike through Santa Teresa Valley along local crop fields. We’ll have a picnic lunch.
We’ll have a bus waiting for us to take us to Llactapata, an Inca site part of the Inca Trail. After the visit we’ll continue to our lodge in Lucmabamba.
For the final day of our hike, we’ll ascend to Llactapata Pass. There you’ll have the first view of Machu Picchu. Then, we’ll descend to the train station next to the Hydroelectric Power Station.
A short and scenic train ride will bring us to Aguas Calientes. We’ll spend overnight in a Aguas Calientes hotel.
