Tour Machu Picchu Sacred Valley 2 Day Details

The Sacred Valley of the Incas is a must-see location in South America. It is home to lovely traditional settlements that have been populated since colonial times. The Incas constructed old citadels such as Pisac and Ollantaytambo there. All of these locations are now popular tourist destinations for travelers before or after their visit to Machu Picchu.

Pisac is located 33 km (20 miles)  from the city of Cusco. It is known as the door to the Sacred Valley. Pisac is recognized around the globe for its artisan market and its outstanding archaeological complex, which is located on a nearby mountain. Furthermore, Pisac is well-known for being an excellent location for spiritual retreats.

Urubamba is one of the most prominent towns in the Sacred Valley. It was founded during the colonial period and is known as the world’s grain capital. Because of the fertility of the surrounding lands, the Incas hold this region in great regard.

Ollantaytambo is situated 97 km (60 miles) northeast of Cusco. It was a fortified city with temples, military walls, and urban and agricultural sections. Ollantaytambo was most likely used as an administrative center. It is regarded as one of Peru’s and South America’s most important archaeological sites.

This tour is perfect for exploring the Sacred Valley of the Incas and the famous Inca city of Machu Picchu. During 2 days, you will visit the most emblematic places of the Cusco region.

We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco around 7:00 am. Then, we will drive to the Pisac Inca ruins, located in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. This Inca archeological complex is located at 3,300 meters (10,826 feet) above sea level.

Some scholars propose that Pisac served as a royal Inca residence and religious temple. During the tour of Pisac, you will visit the Pucaras towers, the Acchapata terraces, and the Inca neighborhoods. After exploring Pisac, we will go to Urubamba town to have a buffet lunch.

Then, we will visit the famous Inca ruins of Ollantaytambo. It is believed that Ollantaytambo was some kind of fortified city, which housed Inca government officials and members of the royal family. You will have a short tour of Ollantaytambo, where you will learn about the rich Inca history of the place.

After exploring Ollantaytambo, we will go to the nearby station to board a train to Aguas Calientes town. The train trip to Aguas Calientes takes around 2 hours to complete. You will be traveling along the course of the beautiful Urubamba river.

Once we arrive at Aguas Calientes, our staff will transfer you to your hotel room. Then, you will have free time to visit this cozy village and its famous hot springs.

Day 2Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Cusco

We will wake up early in the morning. After having breakfast, we will board a bus to Machu Picchu citadel. The bus trip takes around 40 minutes to complete. Once we pass the security checkpoint, we will enter the worldwide known Inca citadel of Machu Picchu.

During the guided tour, you will visit the Temple of the Condor, the Main Temple, the Intihuatana, the Temple of the Three Windows, among other Inca monuments. If you have booked a hike to Machu Picchu mountain or Huayna Picchu mountain, our staff will guide you to the respective entrance. After the tour, we will return to Aguas Calientes town.

Once in Aguas Calientes, you will have free time to have lunch at a local restaurant. The lunch is not included in the tour price. In the afternoon, we will catch a train to Ollantaytambo town.
