Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain Tour Details

Cusco’s beautiful Andean area not only includes stunning Inca structures, but also natural wonders, such as the Rainbow Mountains. Although Vinicunca is the most visited rainbow mountain of Cusco, there is another ideal location whose breathtaking magnificence merits all of your attention: the Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain.

This beauty of the Peruvian Andes is located south of the imperial city of Cusco. It is not physically demanding to get to Palccoyo. The trek to the mountain only takes between 45 minutes and 1 hour. If you’re not used to taking lengthy hikes, this is a great alternative.

The biggest distinction between Palccoyo and Rainbow Mountain is the difficulty of the walk. Getting to Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain requires more physical effort, with a tough, steep walk up to the viewing point. On the other hand, the Palccoyo Mountain Tour has a  considerably gentler ascent at a somewhat lower height.

The Palccoyo Tour, also known as the alternative rainbow mountain tour, is perfect for exploring the enchanting Andean landscapes. During this full day tour, you will be able to visit one of the most beautiful spots in the Cusco region.

The best time to visit Palccoyo is during the dry season, between April and October. It is not recommended to take this tour during the rainy season, because the trail becomes slippery and difficult to walk on.
